My Teaching Superpower |
My Areas For Growth |
One of my teaching superpowers is the care and empathy I have for my students. I genuinely care about my students as whole beings and try to show them that I am interested in them and am supportive of them. I believe my authenticity towards my students helps create a sense of care and belonging for them. My empathy towards my students also allows me to be attuned to their needs and emotions, even if they aren’t verbalizing them. Another superpower is how reflective I am. I constantly ask myself why I am doing something and what the purpose is when teaching so that everything feels meaningful and our learning can be connected to students' lives and the greater world around us.

As someone who can be so self-critical, my first area of growth is to give myself more compassion. When it gets tough, I need to remember to be present with my students, to listen to them, and focus on the relationship and connection I have with my students. I would also like to improve on monitoring and assessing student thinking so I form purposeful small groups that can receive differentiated instruction. I would also like to improve on providing students with feedback so they can grow.
